Today you will begin the second half of part 2 of your Immigration Story Project. For this part, you will create a timeline of the move made by the person you interviewed. You will take the information you gathered from the interview to make a timeline of their journey. If you do not have specific dates, use the year or age each event happened. You can do a handwritten timeline or create a digital timeline. I'm including some links to websites you can create timelines for free. The timeline is due on Friday, April 24.

Today, complete the project log with a sentence of what you accomplished today.

Today you will begin the first half of part 2 of your Immigration Story Project. For this part, you will interview a family member who has emigrated from another country (you might not know anyone or have access to them, and that's ok). You will make an audio recording of the interview (if you prefer to do a video recording instead, you may do so).

Due to our current situation, there is a lot of flexibility with this part.
1. Choose someone you have easy access to (parent, grandparent, etc.) who came from another country.
2. If they were born in the U.S., but from a different state, then make the interview based on the move from their home state.
3. If they were born in Florida but not in Tampa (or current city you live in), then make the interview based on the move from their home city.
4. If they are a Tampa native, then make the interview as if they were going to move to a different country.

Download the guiding oral history interview questions. The questions have been adjusted to meet either of the above criteria. You will need to edit so the questions can be read smoothly. There are 16 guiding questions, but you do not need to ask all 16. Select between 8-12 questions you would like to ask.

You will then submit the audio (or video) of your interview by Wednesday, April 22.

You will complete the project log and write a sentence stating what you accomplished today.

Today, you will begin working on your Immigration Story Project. The first part of the project is gathering information about your family and creating a family tree. You can go as far back in your family lineage as your parents know. You have some room for creativity on this. You can make a physical family tree (I am attaching a file with the materials and directions. Please tweak to meet what you have at home). If you like to try your hand out at something digital, you can make a family tree online. I'm including two free websites you can use to create your family tree (one requires you to sign up for an account, but it is free). You are not limited to what I send. However you want to display your family tree, it is up to you. Your family tree is due on Friday, 4/17, but you will complete the project log and submit a sentence of what you accomplished each day.
