There is a slightly tricky question in there - if you keep solving your equation until you get to a stage where the left hand side could never equal the right hand side (for example you get to 4 = 6), then there are no solutions to that equation. If you solve and you get an equation that is always true (for example 4=4) then there are infinite solutions to that equation.
